CANADA, September 11 - As work progresses to widen Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley, drivers are advised of upcoming traffic-pattern changes westbound on Highway 1 between 248th Street and Glover Road.
These traffic-pattern changes are necessary to allow crews to safely demolish the existing 232nd Street overpass. This work is a key component of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, which is dedicated to improving safety and reducing congestion.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. the following day, westbound Highway 1 lane diversions will occur to implement a highway crossover that will allow traffic to flow in both directions in the eastbound highway lanes. During the diversion, both the westbound on- and off-ramps at 232nd Street will be closed.
From 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 until 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, eastbound Highway 1 lane diversions will occur to implement a similar highway crossover. During the crossover, traffic will flow in both directions on the westbound highway lanes. The eastbound off-ramp at 232nd Street will be closed, while the eastbound on-ramp will remain open.
Work is weather-dependent, so the exact timing of the changes could shift.
A reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will be in place. Drivers are asked to use caution, obey signage and traffic-control personnel, and watch for roadside workers. Allow for additional travel time through the area when diversions are underway.
