Beltrami County Road 23 closed at Highway 71
Bemidji, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will reopen Highway 71 between Turtle River and Tenstrike on Oct. 3. The highway has been closed to through traffic since May for construction.
As Highway 71 reopens, Beltrami County Road 23 will close at Highway 71 to allow crews to complete intersection work. County Road 23 is expected to reopen late next week.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, crews will place the final lift of pavement under traffic. Motorists should expect flaggers and pilot car operations. Crews will also reconstruct the west section of the County Road 23/Highway 71 intersection. County Road 23 will remain closed until late next week while crews complete the widening of the intersection. Motorists should use an alternate route to access County Road 23.
The project includes pavement reconstruction, a southbound bypass lane at Turtle River Lake Road, and entrance culvert replacements.
Knife River Materials is the prime contractor for the $8.8 million project.
MnDOT thanks residents, businesses and the traveling public for their patience and commitment to safety during construction. For more information about this project, visit the project website.
