Daytime I-15 lane closures and traffic shifts expected this week near Fort Hall

Lane closures and traffic shifts will create the space needed for crews to pave and stripe northbound I-15 to three lanes in each direction.

The Idaho Transportation Department is planning traffic changes on northbound Interstate 15 from south of the Fort Hall Interchange (Exit 80) to Sheepskin Road Bridge. Lane closures and traffic shifts will create the space needed for crews to pave and stripe northbound I-15 to three lanes in each direction.

This week, motorists can expect:

  • I-15 lane closures from 8 a.m. to midnight, Tuesday to Friday (Nov. 3-6).
  • At least one lane to remain open.
  • Changing traffic patterns on I-15 during paving.
  • Trucks to frequently enter and exit the work zone.
  • Work is weather-dependent and may be delayed due to conditions.

If traveling northbound on I-15 during peak afternoon travel times, consider using an alternate route. This work will prepare the work zone for crews to finish paving and striping northbound I-15, finish the northbound on-ramp at the Fort Hall Interchange, continue work on the concrete barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic, and install guardrail and drainage infrastructure along I-15.

Construction began in fall 2024 to improve safety and capacity by widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction between Northgate and Fort Hall. The project is expected to be completed in 2027. As work continues on I-15, motorists are encouraged to stay alert for traffic changes, follow work zone signage and drive the posted speed limit.
